Crowns

An intact pristine tooth is extremely hard and durable. However sometimes teeth that have decay, previous dental fillings, root canal treatment, traumatic or heavy bite wear may require a crown. This is fitted over the prepared existing tooth and replaces the natural crown.

Crowns can be fabricated out of gold, semi-precious alloys, porcelain bonded to metal, porcelain bonded to Zirconia, E-Max ceramic or now Monolithic Zirconia. There are now numerous materials and design options to pick from.

A discussion with Rob or Penny can establish which material and technique would be most appropriate for you. We are particularly excited about the latest CAD CAM Ceramic crowns now available. This system utilizes computer digital software to design the crown and the ceramic is then milled.

This reduces the number of laboratory steps in the fabrication process.
